Wouldn't dare to say it's the best dimsum in the Bay Area, but it's one of the better option in the East Bay. It's also one of the better quality and tasting dimsum I've had over the past year. The downside of HK East Ocean is the food is overpriced, with dimsum dishes ranging from $5 - $10. Expect to spend at least $20 - $30 per person here, which is well above average for a dimsum meal. However, I still am quite a fan of this place due to the short distance and also it's a more comfortable dimsum place with a really nice view of the water front. It's much less crowded and less hectic than Chinatown dimsum places, so overall I like it for the comfort and dimsum quality.

Dimsum here is pretty good. It passed the HK mother test, she gave this place a 3.25 stars out of 5. It's hot and fresh and isn't full of MSG. Some of my favorites include, lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, crispy shrimp rice roll, har gao, honey glazed BBQ pork, fried shrimp dumpling, fried shrimp spring roll, tofu skin veggie roll, and siu mai. Skip their rice porridge since it was horrible. Obviously you can't compare this place to the dimsum places in Hong Kong, but it's pretty good for East Bay. My mom said it tastes even better than Peony in Oakland Chinatown.

I had always been skeptical about this place, but after coming back again recently, I've been back a few times already! Service is quite friendly too (if you managed to get their attention!). I've been to Yank Sing in SF recently and that was extremely overpriced and the dimsum was NOT good. I rather spend my money here instead.

This is my first time eating dim sum in the Bay Area. I come from SoCal so I've grown up eating good quality dim sum. My group ordered a number of dishes. We ordered siu mai, the rice noodle with shrimp, the radish daikon cake, steamed pork buns, the shrimp dumpling, the tofu roll with veggies and pork inside, and custard buns.

The siu mai was just average, not too good not too bad. They were a bit small in size.

The rice noodles with shrimp was pretty good with a nice and chewy texture and plump shrimps.

The steamed pork buns were pretty good with a good meat to bread ratio.

The shrimp dumpling was ok. It had no flavor but the textures were good.

The tofu skin roll with veggies and pork were pretty yummy with a nice juicy texture.

The custard buns were good but a little dry.

The biggest thing that causes me to give them 3 stars is that the dishes are wildly overpriced with a dish being around $6-9 dollars. Even the tea, which was average costed $9 for 5 of us.

The view is pretty nice and the service is decent.

    Yum. Yum. Yum.

Appetizers:  spicy Szechuan won tons, roasted duck W/ plum sauce

Entrees:  jumbo prawns w/ glazed walnuts, general Tso's spicy chicken, and pan fried crispy noodle.

The food was fabulous. The view was spectacular. The service was wonderful.

There's a ton of parking too.

Recently came to this water-front dim sum restaurant for a big college reunion and it did not disappoint. Their surprisingly nice wait staff and quality dim sum made the experience one to remember.

Since it's one of the fancier places for dim sum in the area, the prices were undoubtedly higher than the average spot in the East Bay. However, you're definitely paying for the quality and the views of the bay while dining and sipping on tea. Don't come expecting a good deal but you will leave very satisfied.

We ordered an array of dim sum off their written menu as well as off some of the carts. Due to our large group, they were able to group some of our multiple orders onto one giant serving dish to make it feel more like family style. All of their items were fresh and I was definitely happy with the quality of all the dim sum dishes. On Sundays, they even serve suckling pig as a premium option so consider grabbing a plate.

I'm sure that we will reunite again in a few months for another dim sum social and can expect it to take place again here at this good spot.

I am here for Dim Sum and dinner a lot years ago. But this is my first time here in the last three years!

I been told by many of my friends Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant is not as good as what they used to be! I hope they are wrong!

The Dim Sum is not as good as the other good Dim Sum restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most of the items seems frozen for a long time before it reheated! It doesn't tastes fresh!

The services are way below the average, even compared to most of the Chinese restaurants! I'm not even try to compared their services to the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area! I don't know how they can stay in business with the price they have changed as many high quality Chinese restaurants but with such poor services!

I guess I'll not return to Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant again until I know they have improve their quality of food and service!
